Camera
Position
There
are two main camera positions to view the golf swing: the first is the Forward
position (face on-position), and the second is the Sideway
position. You must film at least two golf swing trials for each camera
position.

Camera
set-up
-
It
is most recommended to use a tripod. The camera must be still when
taking pictures. A slight movement will reduce accuracy and
calculations may not be reliable.
-
In
both camera position, the distance between the camera and player
should be approx. 8-10 meters.
-
Set
the camera to automatic focus.
-
Zoom
the camera to a position were the entire body and club are contained
within each frame throughout the entire golf swing.
-
When
filming 'forward position', the focus point should be the center of
the body.
-
When
filming from the 'sideway position, the camera should be positioned
just below the shoulders of the golfer, as this is again the center of
the golf swing.
Filming
the Golf Swing
-
If
possible choose a bright sunny day, and the help of a friend.
-
Before
filming your golf swing trials it is very important to calibrate
the camera. Calibration is performed by filming for approx 5 seconds
an object with a known length. To do so, by standing at the same spot
where the golf swing is performed, record your-self holding the club
in the horizontal position for 5
seconds and then record the club in the vertical
position. Another way is to place two markers on the
ground, 1 meter horizontally apart from each other, that will be
visible throughout your golf swing trial. Very important is NOT
to move the camera after
calibration is performed. REMEMBER
to include your club length and
the calibration images when sending the video. Using the known
calibration length from the images we will be able to perform the
necessary biomechanical calculations.
-
To
ensure that there is constant distance between you and the camera it
is best to have a marking where you perform your golf swing.
-
Have
3 or 4 warm up swing trials before your video trials.
-
The
ball should be teed up for all shots to ensure the lie is consistent
from shot to shot.
